TAF's Sid Chambless Status: not funded in round announced Nov. 5, 2009; possible candidate for funding in 2010 second round. Tennessee Angel Fund -- Sid Chambless, 35, is executive director of Nashville Capital Network, and angel-investor community; and, is managing general partner of the NCN Angel Fund I, a sidecar fund. Chambless will be a principal in the TAF, with the NCN, itself; the NCN Angel Fund sidecar fund; Heritage Group's Rock Morphis and David McClellan; Scenic City Angel Partners (Charlie Brock); Memphis-based Fogelman Investment Co.; and, Crofton Capital, the investment vehicle of Joel and Frank Gordon. NCN has 16 companies listed as active in its porfolio -- all but one Tennessee-based. Chambless reports to a 23-person NCN board that includes Chairman Tom Wylly of Brentwood Capital Advisors; Owen GSM Dean Jim Bradford and Owen Entrepreneur Center chief Germain Böer; and, other executives, including partners in de facto TNINvestco applicants Council Ventures, Solidus and ConduIT Corporation. Chambless also reports to an NCN Angel Fund investment committee, which a year ago included Townes Duncan of Solidus Company, Crom Carmichael of Carmichael and Carmichael, Frank Gordon of Crofton Capital, Paul Wallace of Healthways, and Tom Noland of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Chambless served two years as Vice President-Business Development for Surfari, Inc., driving their capital-raising, sales and partnering efforts, and eventually co-leading Surfari's sale to Coolsavings.com. Earlier, he served in a business development role with the Nashville Predators, during the team's startup phase.
